On March 16 five village heads signed agreements within the framework of DESPRO project implementation in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast’.  

Under the agreement support will be granted to the communities of Herynya, Obolonya (Dolyna raion), Stary Lysets (Tysmennnitsa raion), Viknyany (Tlumach raion) and Vistova(Kalush raion) for the improvement of their water supply systems this year.

«Implementation of the project in our oblast’ is a vivid example of the decentralization of power in practice – deputy head of oblast’ state administration V.Kushnir shared his vision of the project importance. – Improving the water supply services local communities demonstrate their self-sufficiency, skill of combining various sources of funding to achieve their goal”.

According to the project senior coordinator O.Garnets, rules of free assistance to the residents envisaged by the project and its mechanism have been changed this year. Now a winning community will get 370 thousand UAH, instead of former 240 thousand. This money will be allocated for the gentrification of 6 km of water conduit. For each additional kilometer 50 thousand UAH will be paid.

In their support of the communities the staff of the Swiss-Ukrainian project counts on their active participation, their wish of improving living standards. In the future, support in the devising of strategic plans for the development of the areas will be granted. Zhovkva rural community has been selected for this project.
