On April 11, experts from the Swiss-Ukrainian Decentralization Support Project in Ukraine - DESPRO transferred a bulldozer to the Tulchyn City Council a bulldozer. The vehicle was purchased at the expense of DESPRO project within the framework of supporting the implementation of the Integrated Solid Waste Management Strategy in the Tulchyn target region. 

It is assumed that the bulldozer will be transferred to the Utility Company “Tulchynkomunservice” and will be used to maintain the newly constructed landfill site. The official opening of the new solid household waste landfill, along with the presentation of the transferred equipment, is expected to be held a bit later, after the completion of the commissioning process for this facility. 

Background information: 

DESPRO, in cooperation with the Municipal Governance and Sustainable Development Program (MGSDP), has developed the SW Management Strategy, thus creating the basis for improving the level of the service and further coverage of the territory of the entire Tulchyn rayon. 

For the period of 2012-2017, the extent of financing for the implementation of the Integrated Solid Waste Management Strategy in the Tulchyn target region has amounted to 18.5 million UAH. About 66% is a contribution from DESPRO; the rest is funded from the local, rayon, oblast and state budgets. 

For the sake of creating a modern integrated SW management system, three communities have been amalgamated: the town of Tulchyn, Kynashiv Village Council (Kynashiv village, Mazurivka village, Nestervarka village) and Suvorivske Village Council (Pestel settlement, Suvorovske village), which number more than 26 thousand people.
