DESPRO and UNDP/MGSDP unite efforts in support of inter-municipal cooperation projects
Swiss-Ukrainian Decentralization Support to Ukraine project DESPRO and UNDP "Municipal Governance and Sustainable Development" project in Ukraine (hereinafter - UNDP/MGSDP) established inter-project task force on solid waste (hereinafter - SW) management. The first joint task force meeting was held in c.Dolyna of Ivano-Frankivsk region on September 22, 2010.
The purpose of the meeting was to coordinate joint activities of the DESPRO, UNDP/MGSDP projects and partner communities of c.Tulchyn and Tulchyn rayon in initiation of the systematic project planning in the SW management. It is expected that this project of inter-municipal cooperation will cover c.Tulchyn and neighboring communities of the villages Kynashiv and Suvorovske. DESPRO and UNDP/MGSDP projects will provide expert support in development of the project in establishing of an integrated system for SW management.
Synergy of the two projects complements efforts of both of them, while UNDP/MGSDP works at the municipal level and DESPRO cooperates with the rural communities.
In the result of the meeting members of the inter-project task force on SW management developed joint action plan until the end of November 2010, which envisages the review of the project concept of community partners, gathering additional information, preparation of the feasibility study, etc.
