14 through 17 June 2011 a training workshop on "Supporting organizations winners of the third round of the competition DESPRO in projects" for project managers, accountants and coordinators RRG and ONK took place in Yalta.

14 through 17 June 2011 training on “Support to organizations, the winners of DESPRO third call” for projects’ heads, accountants and RWGs coordinators and OSCs took place in Yalta.

Training’s organizers, i.e. experts of Swiss-Ukrainian Project “Decentralization Support in Ukraine” developed an intense training program in a way so as to cover all aspects of communities’ future activities in the sphere of local projects’ on service provision in rural areas implementation.

Special aspect was made on organization, legal and technical aspects of water-supply projects. Project financial aspects were covered as well. Main attention was paid to accounting in non-profit organizations.

Trainees also obtained communication skills, which will serve for communities’ social mobilization, conflicts’ resolution and public relations necessary for project implementation and population social mobilization.

Trainees – 64 representatives of village communities of Vinnytsya and Sumy Oblasts and AR Crimea as well as public servants from above regions who will cooperate with communities and DESPRO – highly estimated the quality of trainers’ work and training material.

It should be noted that the training was very important and timely for new communities, as Sumy Oblast communities were involved into project implementation only these year.

“Communities got a unique chance to change, obtain new knowledge and skills, which will serve them not only for work with DESPRO but for further activities of effective community that will work for improving the life quality”, - said Oleksiy Matyushenko, main specialist of Investments and External Policy Department of Sumy Oblast State Administration.

Best practices of water supply local projects were not only presented in the classrooms. Trainees had an opportunity to communicate with experienced community of Pshenychne village (Nyzhnyohirsky rayon AR Crimea).

Members of Pshenychne community cordially welcomed guests from Sumy and Vinnytsya Oblasts as well as from neighboring areas of Crimea. They’ve told the trainees about existing experience and problems related to implementation of the project on decentralized water supply services provision and ways of their solutions.

This study visit was an inspiring final training chord. Knowledge and skills obtained in Crimea will be useful in the nearest future as intensive work is waiting at home. The new project stage started.
